My client is looking for an addition to their Telecommunications and Networking team. The team is responsible for building and maintaining the core telecommunications infrastructure and managing the relationship with major vendors. Currently the client is working on a large scale long term upgrade of their national network.

You will work with the other network specialists, architects and vendors to develop high level design solutions for T&N projects. This will include reviewing and providing quality assurance of high level concept design reports generated by vendors, as well as ensuring design solutions conform to design and architectural principles and the client's long term strategies.

You will have core network design knowledge and over 5 years experience working with telecommunications service suppliers and technologies. This is a high level design role, not just engineering.

The successful candidate will exhibit the following:

• A solid Telco technology background (SDH/PDH/ATM etc.) with experience of designing high-level core network solutions.
• Experience of designing IP-based telecoms core (MPLS/BGP) & enterprise solutions
• Demonstrable ability to liaise with business customers, team members and vendors to clarify requirements and engage the vendor effectively.
• Ability to manage progress through a pre-defined, service-oriented vendor management protocol.
• Ability to apply appropriate high-level QA to ensure outcomes have been met.

The role is at a consultant level as opposed to being a hands on technical role so you will also possess a strong business acumen including the ability to organise people and projects, the ability to recognise opportunities for synergy and integration and to simplify complex processes, as well as a proven ability to grow and maintain business relationships.
