Field/BTS/RBS Engineers required in Northern Ireland for large telecommunications operation being undertaken by Global Blue Chip Organisation.

Field Engineers will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of 2G and 3G kit, knowledge of 2G and 3G essential, and also RAN and transmission focused.

Applicants must have:
• A proven track record in the operation and maintenance of RAN and transmissions.
• Knowledge of 2G and 3G kit.

The role requires proactive individuals familiar with the field operations of either GSM or UMTS; understanding of RF, data communications and networking; and knowledge of the core networks and access transmission (microwave).

Responsible for installation, maintenance and integration of Wireless equipment. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs and debugs complex electro-mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, networked and/or wireless systems. Provides lead technician support to Engineers and subcontractors.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Takes direction from lead technicians on customer projects.
• Installs and routes transmission cable.
• Installs grounding cables.
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs wireless equipment.
• Takes inventory and tracks components in the field.
• Performs and validates quality tests
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Associates Degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school.
• 3-4 years of telecom installation and maintenance experience.
• Must be able to work well in a high-pressure environment.
• Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook.
• Must have valid drivers license.
• Understands OSHA work safety requirements.

Minimum 3 years Nortel BTS, T1, AC/DC power, cabling, alarm punchdowns, troubleshoot hardware devices, MOPS.

Ericsson - BTS Optimization Engineer

Job Description:

• Monitor the daily busy hour statistics.
• Responsible for reducing congestion and drops, improving the Handover, Location Update, Paging & CSSR in his designated area, issuing capacity requests whenever needed.
• Responsible for testing the radio performance for the newly integrated sites.
• Responsible for the drive test analysis and taking the necessary action to improve the performance of his area.
• Change the radio related parameters, by using the GATS, which is an Oracle Database designed to streamline the interaction between the Optimization team & Radio Frequency team with O&M.
• Perform Radio Network Surveys, i.e. visit possible base station sites in order to judge if they are suitable from a radio network point of view (Hardware & Location).
• Evaluate and adapt new methods and technologies regarding Radio Network Optimization & Tuning.
• Ability to use the following tools: TCP, TEMS Investigation, PMR, CNA, CHA, BO, MTR & MapInfo.

Requested competence:

• Extensive experience in relevant field, the BTS Optimization Engineer should have a good knowledge in the field of radio communication.
• To achieve and maintain a high level of the Radio Network Services, and ensuring high quality performance on all technical activities.
