Ericsson Core Network Engineer





Job description

  • Perform integration and resolution of faults according to available procedures and defined regulations, leading to a working and integrated core network node of good quality.

  • Monitoring 24/7 end-to-end services, networks and core network components, by using generic and customer specific systems, tools and processes, to be notified on deviations from normal network behaviour, aiming at limiting network/service disturbances.

  • Investigate faults and system events and where possible restore functionality or escalate to a specialist, according to operational instructions and directives, to achieve service restoration and network performance within contractual agreed performance levels.

  • Provide on site support towards other departments within Ericsson, e.g. Ericsson Local Support (ELS).

  • Perform predefined recurring Operation & Maintenance routines, according defined periodic maintenance schedule, to prevent unplanned service downtime.

  • Administer Network- and Service events through Trouble Ticket administration and event logging. Generate and distribute planned reports on Network/Service status and performance. Report all events with high- or yet unknown impact to Duty Manager/Shift leader, according Fault handling and Preventative Maintenance contractual agreements with customers. Ensure control of network/service events during fault handling in order to meet contractual lead times. Update and check project administration, in accordance with the project administration on site, leading to a well documented process of the integration activities.

  • Verify and Implement procedural improvements and changes (down to the level of work instructions), provide input on structural improvements in processes/work instructions, within the responsibilities of the organizational unit (and adjacent interfacing areas). Ensure changes are embedded in the daily way of working.

  • Configure, monitor and control settings, parameters and provisioning of network services, within the environment of a live network, ensuring minimum disruption of end-user services. Ensure end-user services are available at all times.

  • Maintain contact with customers about specific details during the integration and operation activities, in order to maintain a good relationship with the customer.

  • Supervise sub-contractors in their activities in order to assure the correct working procedures are followed and delivery is of good quality.



Competence
  • One to two years experience from installation and testing core network nodes or operation and maintenance on core network nodes.
  • The formal education required for this role is a University degree in engineering, telecommunication, or equivalent.
  • Cooperates with colleagues in teams and projects to achieve results. Shows respect and shares information, ideas and knowledge.
  • Ability to convey, receive and exchange ideas, information, knowledge and experiences in a clear, concise and open manner. Gives and receives feedback. Maintains a flow of communication with customers and colleagues.
  • Able to express oneself in proper English and French and understands English in business situations .
  • Core network node installation, testing and integration skills.
  • Understands the full scope of customer networks and understands the impact of faults in that specific network.
  • Understands the impact of activities on the network, such as preventative- and corrective maintenance.
