My client is one of the biggest players within the Mobile and Telecoms Industry. As part of a UK wide network convergence project they are keen to employ an experienced Transmission Solutions Architect to become a key part of their Reading or Hatfield operations. This is a contract position that requires excellent knowledge of RAN and Nokia and is likely last the duration of the project estimated to run a further 24 months.

You will ideally possess the following:
  • Excellent knowledge of Nokia RAN transmission and Iub configuration and practical experience in the design and configuration of Nokia Iub Essential
  • Excellent skills in XML coding, Visual Basic, Microsoft Access Desirable
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the planning of Access and Backbone transmission technology deployed in the 3G networks Desirable
  • Knowledge of T-Mobile planning tools (eg Apollo, Nemesis, Spectrum Desirable)
  • Experience in planning microwave radio links in mobile network rollout environment Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of SDH, ATM, PWE & Ethernet transport Desirable
  • Knowledge of Minilink TN, SIAE, Ceragon, Nokia microwave radio Desirable
  • Experience with GIS tools such as Mapinfo and MS Access databases Desirable
The man responsibilities of this position are as follows:
  1. Interact with Radio design / customer / parent company designers to ensure the impact of RAN developments on Iub configurations are captured and understood.
  2. Assess impact of Iub design changes on Iub Configuration tools and processes and define development required to support such design changes
  3. Host workshops as necessary to scope requirements for development
  4. Production and update of Iub configuration templates for Nokia RAN, covering all aspects of configuration of RNC CoCo, Node B AXC and transmission module.
  5. Development of Nokia site XML files and RNC CoCo: build, export, analyse xml from live sites/RNC, adapting code to reflect new Iub design for all site types and site capacities.
  6. Testing of Iub configuration files prior to release and widespread use
  7. Support release of new Iub XML templates into Apollo tool
  8. Produce documentation for manual configuration of Iub CoCo / AXC / Transmission Module using NetAct
  9. Provide planning support, training & workshops to regional planning engineers and field staff on all aspects of Iub configuration, acting as design authority
  10. Verification of Iub design integrity in the consolidated network using network management tools as required and implementing corrective action as required
  11. Provision on monthly reports on accuracy of Iub configurations in the network
  12. Design and definition of ATM connectivity supporting the Iub including all aspects of the ATM configuration design through the ATM switching network.
  13. Support to Operational ATM configuration teams on queries with end-end ATM configuration.
  14. Plan, design and deliver transmission solutions to provide capacity and functionality for key customer networks, providing technical design input into the project delivery.
