Key aspects of the role:

• Analysis of performance statistics both counter and drive based for 2G and 3G networks.
• Recommendations for parametric and or hardware configuration changes to Optimise performance.
• Progressing optimisation initiatives and participating in projects to introduce new technology/functionality in to the network with respect to 2G, GPRS and 3G.
• Production of summary reports on radio network performance

Network Design & Optimization Engineers, Egypt

Tangent International are currently looking for 2 Network Design and Optimization Engineers to work on a contract based in Egypt.

The candidate must have:

• Radio Design & Optimisation Radio WCDMA
• Extensive knowledge and experience in RAS06/RU10 Features and parameters
• Minimum 5 years experience working in 3G RF Optimization, with minimum 2.5 years experience on NSN/Ex-Nokia equipment
• Hands on experience in 3G new feature introduction into the network
• Data Performance Optimization (PS, HSDPA, HSUPA)
• HSDPA Knowledge - HSDPA Concept, New HSDPA Channels, Modulation and Coding Options, Modifications to Layer 2 and the MAC Architecture, MAC-hs Structure, HARQ and Key Features. HSDPA Session Setup, UE Capabilities, Additional Signalling Parameters, Mobility with HSDPA Active, Additional Measurement Triggers.
• ISHO 2G/3G parameter optimization competence
• Drive Test Analysis competence (DT Tools: TEMS Investigation, Post-processing tools: ACTIX)
• Experience in NetAct Plan Editor and XML files generation
• Performance Monitoring Expertise (KPIs, counter level, Reporting Suite)
• Hands on experience in NetAct Optimizer 2.1 is desirable
• 3G Capacity Management knowledge (WCEL, WBTS and RNC)
• Counter & KPI monitoring with agreed trigger thresholds (daily/weekly) to measure resource usage or/and blocking. Detailed Blocking cause analysis & optimization actions
• Possible Hardware Capacity upgrade actions & verifications
• UMTS Planning Process - UMTS Link Budgets, UMTS Planning, HSDPA Issues, Multi-Frequency Networks and Antenna Selection.
• Site Location and Integration - Key Site Criteria, Capacity v Coverage, Hot Spot Issues, Hierarchical Sites and High Sites

Additional :

• The candidate should possess excellent communication and management skills as the position would require frequent interaction with the Customer.
• English language is a must, Arabic would be a plus.
