RNO Engineer, United Arab Emirates

We are looking for a team of NPO Engineers for a 6 month contract in the UAE.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Performs design and performance activities in customer projects independently, according to project plan and in project managers guidance
  • Provides support to clients and/or customers (typically on-site) in his field of expertise
  • Operates in compliance with the processes, methods and tools linked to the job and possesses service excellence awareness
  • Reports the progress of his/her work to project management / line management
Typical tasks :
  • Works typically on one or alternatively in two technology areas
  • Efficient utilization of design and measurement tools, including internal and external troubleshooting tools
  • Network and/or Service optimization.
  • Multivendor Radio Network ( Mainly Huawei, NSN)
  • Field Measurements and laboratory tests

This position is the RNO Engineer position for 2G/3G Radio Network Optimization with strong technical competency of MW Huawei radio network. The main skillset requirement is on Huawei 3G radio network.

Job Description:

Nokia Radio Network Optimisation Team Leader

Job Title      :  Nokia Radio Network Optimisation Team Leader
Functional Role: Radio Network Performance Improvement (3G)

Working Hours : 40 standard hours per week + additional hours as required

The 3G RO Team Leader is assigned to work on improving the technical performance and competence of the RO team (improve the current methods of troubleshooting problematic cells), developing “Performance Improvement” plans of the 3G network (testing new radio features and parameters tuning), improving the (weekly/monthly) technical reports generated to the customer. It is the responsibility of the RO Team Leader to have a good interaction with the customer and make sure to solve and correct radio network problems according to agreed timing and standards set, to detect and highlight radio network deficiencies and to some extent predict future degradations.
  • The 3G RO Team Leader’s Functional Role is typically working with NodeBs to some extent RNCs.
  • NodeB hardware problems are to be identified and escalated to corresponding departments (NRO, NFM, etc…).
  • Highly contribute in the creation and improvements of the procedures and routines within the department / group.

Job Description:
  • Monitor the daily busy hour statistics.
  • Responsible for reducing congestion and drops, improving the Handover, Location Update, Paging & CSSR in his designated area, issuing capacity requests whenever needed.
  • Responsible for testing the radio performance for the newly integrated sites. Discuss the frequency retunes requests with his team leader for his designated area. Responsible for the drive test analysis and taking the necessary action to improve the performance of his area.
  • Change the radio related parameters, by using the GATS, which is an Oracle Database designed to streamline the interaction between the Optimization team & Radio Frequency team with O&M.
  • Participate in technical discussions with the customer in order to gather product-related information.
  • Perform Radio Network Surveys, i.e. visit possible base station sites in order to judge if they are suitable from a radio network point of view (Hardware & Location). Evaluate and adapt new methods and technologies regarding Radio Network Optimization & Tuning.
  • Help the customer to get more knowledge about Ericsson’s products by holding seminars and presentations of new or enhanced products and functionality.
  • Ability to use the following tools: TCP, Tems Investigation, PMR, CNA, CHA, BO, MTR & MapInfo.
  • Be involved in trial projects for new products & features.
  • Act as a mentor for the younger STC engineers.

Qualification (formal education needed):
The BTS Optimization Engineer should have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years optimisation experience and 3 years with Ericsson in telecommunication or related field.

Requested competence:
  • Extensive experience in relevant field, the BTS Optimization Engineer should have a good knowledge in the field of radio communication, acquired through technical training and practical experience in Ericsson or another equivalent company.
  • To achieve and maintain a high level of the Radio Network Services, and ensuring high quality performance on all technical activities, the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
