Optimization Specialist Consultant - South Africa

SAMO Consulting is looking for 2G/3G optimisation specialist consultants to perform Ericsson RAN optimisation. The consultants should be familiar with both 2G and 3G areas that affect coverage and capacity. The consultant must be able to tackle complex 2G/3G voice and data performance issues with use of protocol analyser, network counters, parameters and drive test tool. Other activities will include:

• Coordinate RF rollout and tuning/optimisation activities
• Be the customer single point of contact for RF technical-related issues
• Regular progress reporting to senior management
• Ensure KPI improvement

The following attributes are required:

• Extensive (at least 4 years) RF planning and optimisation experience for 2G and 3G, preferably with supervisory experience of other engineers
• Clear understanding of processes involved in RF implementation
• Good inter-personal and organisational skills to effectively share knowledge with other engineers
• Ability to perform well under pressure
  

Primary vendor is Ericsson and Huawei. The consultant will be permanently working at client’s premises reporting weekly to SAMO Consulting's project manager.

Technical Support Engineer

We are presently seeking a Field Engineer to support our Global WiMAX and wireless broadband customers locations throughout the EMEA SADC region.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical on-site support on evolving technologies and applications.
• Perform pre-install audits, field trials, on-job training including review of all site preparations, equipment installation and commissioning and network operation activities.
• Participate in equipment demos, exhibition, etc.
• Be prepared for field assignment including system integration, management application support, functional analysis, capacity, maintenance, and debugging.
• Technical presentation – provide training on equipment and relevant technologies.
• Ability to travel within the region.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of Field engineering / Technical Support experience in an international company in the telecom industry.
• Understanding of network infrastructures and protocols.
• Deep knowledge in computer communications, LAN, core protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet)
• Radio – an advantage.
• Wireless experience – an advantage.
• Presentation skills
• Advantage to candidates certified by known communications companies, such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.
• English at mother tongue level
• Willingness to travel frequently
