RAN Engineer (Front Office), England



Front Office RAN Engineer is required to monitor the availability and performance of the Radio Access Network comprised of 2G, 2.5G and 3G equipment (BTS, Node-B, BSC, RNC) and all associated transmission infrastructure (radio and leased line).

Key Responsibilities
  • To perform 1st line diagnostics / remote restoration / raising of a trouble tickets.
  • Monitoring the 2G RAN Network.
  • Maintain the availability and performance of the RAN in line with KPIs.
  • Provide fault co-op and expert advice to resolving agents.
Key Requirements :
  • Previous working background within network monitoring / management
  • Excellent understanding of 2G / GSM architecture and functionality.
  • Good understanding of digital transmission principles PDH and SDH

Job Description:
Technical Support provides technical expertise per technology to support all Network Operations functions and is main interface with Care/Support functions on technical matters regarding Network Operations for all technologies in scope:
  • Carries out highest level technical support skills per technology (MPLS network)
  • Supports to Fault Management function
  • Supports Performance Management function
  • Supports Configuration Management function
  • Collaborates with others to resolve complex matters
  • Takes part in 24x7 (Call-out) for technical support
  • Supports planning and execution of network HW/SW upgrades
  • Investigates major outages
  • Supports report writing as required by management

Main skills / competence requirements / network element :
CCNP is required & CCIE is preferable

Technical Support Engineer, Saudi Arabia


Start Date: 01st August 2009

The Connect44 Group provides telecommunications consulting services to leading equipment vendors and mobile telecom network operators worldwide. Connect44 offers a full range of technical solutions from, 2G, 3G and next generation network implementations, expansions and rollouts, from fully outsourced network access and core services to specialised project resources.

Main Skills required:
The main responsibility of Technical Support Services (TSS) engineer is to provide tier 2 technical support services for 3rd party VAS products. This includes handling all the trouble tickets raised by Managed Services for these products. In case the issue is not resolved on tier 2 level, e.g. software correction or patch needed, the TSS engineer has to escalate it to 3rd parties support teams and follow it up. The TSS engineer is required to update the status of all the tickets opened in RESOLVE. An emergency phone is carried by the team which is rotated among team members on weekly basis. The engineer responsible for each respective platform is on call 24x7 and has to tackle emergency situations and other cases within agreed SLA.

Airwide SMSC, FirstHop, Tecnomen, Telesoft, Unified Comm, PushEmail
  1. Database knowledge
  2. Unix/Linux knowledge
  3. Good Telecom experience
  4. Support experience for at least 2 years

English is a must, Arabic will be a plus

Technical Support Engineer

We are presently seeking a Field Engineer to support our Global WiMAX and wireless broadband customers locations throughout the EMEA SADC region.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical on-site support on evolving technologies and applications.
  • Perform pre-install audits, field trials, on-job training including review of all site preparations, equipment installation and commissioning and network operation activities.
  • Participate in equipment demos, exhibition, etc.
  • Be prepared for field assignment including system integration, management application support, functional analysis, capacity, maintenance, and debugging.
  • Technical presentation – provide training on equipment and relevant technologies.
  • Ability to travel within the region.

Requirements:
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of Field engineering / Technical Support experience in an international company in the telecom industry.
  • Understanding of network infrastructures and protocols.
  • Deep knowledge in computer communications, LAN, core protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet)
  • Radio – an advantage.
  • Wireless experience – an advantage.
  • Presentation skills
  • Advantage to candidates certified by known communications companies, such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • English at mother tongue level
  • Willingness to travel frequently

Technical Support Engineer

A 3rd Line Technical Support Engineer with expertise in Nokia RAN is required by my client, a leading Mobile Telecoms Network Vendor, to provide highly specialised support for all aspects of Nokia RAN comprising RNC, AXC and Node B.

You will be responsible for:
  • High-level analysis, diagnosis and problem solving on the RAN.
  • Advising on processes and procedures within my client.
  • Interface with Engineering and Network rollout to ensure that all technical issues that will affect the operational environment are included in testing, discussions etc.
  • Advising of any skills that required within the team.
  • Closely monitor planned works on the deployed RAN.
  • Ensure RAN availability is maintained whilst carrying out hardware and software upgrades.
Candidates must show an extensive knowledge of Nokia RAN operation and maintenance, in-depth technical knowledge of 3G mobile networks, sound knowledge of ATM and IP networks and protocols, Nokia NetAct skills, and ideally exposure to a 3rd Line Support environment.
