RF Engineer - 3G Access Performance & Optimization, Australia

Our client, one of Australia’s fastest growing infrastructure and services solutions provider to major telecommunications companies, requires the services of an experienced RF Engineer to join their radio team in the Strathfield MTX facility.

In this role you will be responsible for Radio Access optimisation of BSS parameter sets (GSM and GPRS), radio frequency spectrum (Ec/10) to optimise dropped call rate (DCR), voice quality (VQ) and congestion. The technical environment consists of Ericsson 2G equipment (RBS) and Nokia 3G equipment (Node B).

You will provide as part of this RF Engineer role:

• Technical assistance and solutions in pre/post sales support to state based business and consumer teams
• Radio access network element design and preparation of documentation in line with the customer’s national design standards
• Radio access network growth planning and capacity management to meet customer requirements and sales / marketing strategies
• Infrastructure integration including acceptance testing and verification activities
• Identification and rectification of custom problems and faults

You will have a relevant qualification combined with extensive RF Engineering commercial experience in 2G an 3G cell planning and optimisation and a thorough knowledge of GSM and UMTS. Critical to your success will be your knowledge of Radio propagation and RF equipment. Also required is experience in optimising for site and network improvements - Voice, AMR codecs R99 PS HSDPA HSUPA GPRS/EDGE.

Your well honed computer application skills with MS Office, mapping software and planning tools such as ATOLL, Planet, CE4 or Asset platforms, combined with your strong written and verbal communication skills will make you an ideal candidate.

Performance Engineer

Job Description :

• Collect, analyze, and report on a variety of standard metrics indicating element and network performance.
• Report data includes device-specific performance and network performance information collected from elements or network.
• Provide reports and trend analysis and these information will be presented to Mobily as a part of Performance Reporting.
• Periodical evaluation of the network subscriber growth and assessment of these trends and availability of network capacity. The result will be presented to Mobily as a part of Performance Reporting.
• Monitoring the KPIs for all BSCs, such as traffic volume, TCH blocking rate and so on, report the running status of network, and take action when KPIs are abnormal.
• Technical support the data configuration and thresholds changing.
• Cooperate with RNP & RNO apartment to investigate and solve the network problem, promote the performance of KPIs.
• Open trouble tickets with Huawei Technical support and follow up with them to solve technical issues.
• Cooperate with H&Q to gather traffic statistics from our network, investigate and solve the network problem.
• Submit Daily Cell Report every day (contain cell level KPIs for all cells that on air, 2 reports), partition to two region. Report the changes of KPIs, investigate the reason, site down, TRX faulty, data configuration wrong or other reasons, solve the problem.
• Submit Network Level Report every day (contain BSC level KPIs for all 5 BSCs, 5 reports), Report the changes of KPIs, investigate the reason, and solve the problem.
• Submit BSS Running Report every day (contain BSC level KPIs for all 5 BSCs, 2 reports), partition to two region. Report the changes of KPIs, investigate the reason, and solve the problem.
• Whenever there is some data configuration change or hardware change (like expansion, migration or new site put on air), submit a comparison report, report the changes of KPIs, investigate the reason for the improvement or degradation, and solve problems.
• On the first day of one week (Saturday), filter from the traffic statistics of whole last week for all the cells and find out the Top 20 Congested Cells, and submit one report for investigating the main reason, advise customer to enable HR or expansion. On the first day of one month, submit GSM1 & GSM2 reports, report the performance of all the BSCs for one whole month.
