Switch Operations Group Engineer, England


A leading global provider of mobile, telecommunication and data communication systems are now looking to recruit contract Engineers to act as Switch Operations Group Engineers within a major network consolidation project likely to continue for the next 12 months. Together with solid experience in a mobile Switch environment you will also be able to control complex technical situations in a calm and professional manner.

To be considered for the role you will also have:
  • Understanding of 2G Nortel and Ericsson Switching Platforms and command structure.
  • Understanding of 3G Nokia Switching Platforms and command structure.
  • Proficient databuilder
  • Knowledge of Nokia Node Bs and RNCs and Flexi BTS
  • Knowledge of Nokia NetAct

This is a technically challenging position that will involve the following responsibilities:
  • Software/Hardware Upgrades/Expansions on Node B's and RNCs via Netact and Local connection
  • Responsible for the operation and ongoing maintenance of regional and national NODE B's
  • Implementing SAC'S LACS, Routing Zones and assigning NODE B's to Media Gateways. Ration, maintenance of T-Mobile's Nokia 3g RAN incorporating RNC's Node B's and AXC's
  • Upgrading AXC by loading latest XML Files
  • Ensuring all network elements are integrated to NETACT
  • Upgrading the Node B and Flexi BTS Remote Antenna Units
  • Making adjustments to 3G RAN using NETACT Network editor
  • Using SAP to implement change requests
  • Parameter changes on Node B's RNC's and AXC's
  • Datafill of Network Elements Liaising with project engineers for technical and staffing requirements
  • Loop testing checking transmission with Field engineers
