Telecommunication Engineer - Paris, French


An exciting position in Paris has just arisen for an highly-specialist technical pre-sales and post-sales telecommunication engineer for the deployment and support of OTN (Optical Transport Network) solutions and embedded systems.

For our client's project, the position requires providing high level technical support for the customer during the planning and deployment phases of the project followed eventually by maintenance of the network. The candidate will have also to assist the sales team on the customer site.

The successful candidate would have the following skills:
  • Detailed knowledge of the transport networks: PDH and SDH hierarchies, Ethernet,backbones, Optical Transport Networks (OTN) and their common deployment and synchronization topologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of the common telecommunication protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, 802.3,802.11, G903/G904, RS232/RS485, ModBus, CAN, IEEE 1394, Routing protocols (e.g. OSPF,RIP, BGP)
  • Detailed knowledge of common telecommunication technologies: Baseband modulation, voice band modulation, wireless transmission & telecommunication technologies.
  • Knowledge of management tools and network equipment technologies and infrastructures (e.g. SNMP, Q1, Q3)

Additionally, the candidate would ideally have the following profile:
  • Engineering diplomas with a telecommunication major
  • Fluent English reading and writing
  • Fluent French
  • Strong communication skills
  • One year minimum experience in the planning and deployment of industrial or operator networks
  • Driving license
The ideal candidate should be comfortable with international travel between European countries and the middle East/Africa.

Field Technician Job Description:
  • Troubleshoot and repair the GSM network.
  • Knowledge and experience working with an Anritsu 251C line sweep equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Acterna Tberd 107 or test pad.
  • Daily duties include: responding to standard requests to support customer network performance and reliability initiatives. Applies basic technical skills to conduct testing, locating, maintenance, and repairs, supporting the resolution of common problems within in the wireless networks. Routine maintenance documented through daily reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of LMU is a MUST HAVE!!!!!
Required Skills:
T1 testing, antenna and line sweeping, hardware troubleshooting on 3G/2G BTSs. GSM background, WCDMA background, and T1 transport knowledge. Must also have experience installing new hardware on Nortel and Ericsson BTSs.

Field Technician



Outstanding opportunity available within a leading 3G telecommunications company, looking to recruit a Field Technician.

The role will be responsible for installing, commissioning and integrating of node B's, and peripheral equipment associated with a new site.

Additional responsibilities for this role will include:
  • The upgrade of existing site equipment, and installation of expansion kit.
  • The integration of node B's to an RNC and subsequent troubleshooting that may arise
  • Reparenting of Test node B's on to new RNC's
  • Call testing of various scenarios on test node B equipment

Additional requirements will include:
  • Ideally candidates will have been exposed to Ericsson or Nortel RBS equipment as well as Nokia Node B's.
  • Strong background in the installation and maintenance of electronic/mechanical equipment.
  • Rudimentary knowledge of the ‘building blocks' of a 2G/3G network, and their interconnection.

Field NodeB Engineer

Requirement :

  • Preferably, having knowledge in the operation and maintenance of NSN WCDMA Base stations family and S-AXC.
  • Preferably also having some years of experience in the testing, fault diagnosis, commissioning and integration of the associated NSN's 3G product (WCDMA BTS and S-AXC).
  • Responsible for the 3G NodeB field troubleshooting under cooperation from the NOC, performs field spare handling, on-site fault investigation and repair.
  • Performs upkeeping and maintaining the up-to-date accuracy and backups of site configuration file.
  • Maintain the site folders up-to-date and provide site and equipment data to the network operation centre
  • To support on-site repair capability, on-site health & safety awareness in the team through demonstrations and proper coaching of the tasks/fault clearance.
  • Coordinates with the Network Implementation teams to ensure adequate quality control for the operational acceptance of the base stations.
  • To support workshops related to the Field Ops issues, discussions of fault clearance incidents and to support in improvement programs and initiatives around the interworking operation process.
  • To identify and develop 3G field maintenance routines & checklists and plan
  • to provide on-the-job training of these routines to the Operator’s O&M personal.
  • Solves technical problems or escalates to the correct group/team
  • Maintain excellent coordination and communication with customers on technical & network operation activities.
  • At least 3 years of Nokia’s 2G/3G base stations field maintenance & operations.

Verizon Business is currently looking for a Telecoms Field Engineer to join our team here in Edinburgh. This role offers the enviable opportunity to put your technical know-how to the test with a leading, global telecoms company that works with some of the world's largest organisations.

As a Telecoms Field Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
  • Installing, commissioning and repairing voice, data, video and HLI services to ensure all UK Field Operations Group goals and targets are achieved
  • Performing joint testing with equipment suppliers, 3rd party carriers, multinational customers and maintenance staff when new products are introduced onto the networks
  • Developing basic knowledge of data communications and IP equipment, processes and systems, as well as department policies and procedures
  • Keeping the Regional Manager informed at all times of test equipment, tools and documentation on all Verizon Business sites
  • Carrying out all preventive and routine maintenance activities as detailed in the ISO procedures
  • Supervising all second line maintenance and repair work carried out by sub-contractors from internal departments, and maintaining the integrity of records to Verizon Business standards on both customer and node sites
As a Telecoms Field Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  1. Experience with optical fibre measuring equipment and testing
  2. A working knowledge of WAN Technologies ( Frame Relay, ATM, ISDN )
  3. Strong understanding of SDH / PDH networks / fibre systems and data, ideally supported by knowledge of multinational voice communications and protocols
  4. The flexibility to undertake frequent national travel
  5. Strong PC skills, preferably including an understanding of any of the following: IP equipment, Testers and testing techniques, LAN Technologies, Topologies, and Network equipment (routers, switches, multiplexors, modems).
